はーです : wa ー desu is basically Japanese grammar. We know as to be or am/are/is. Isn't each language this the fundamental things? は usually in phonology is ha but we pronounced and です pronounced des. Now I will write the formula how to make a sentence about はーです.
Formula
Subject + は + Object + です
Sentence
わたしはがくせいです。
Watashi wa gakusei desu
I am a student
わたし = I
がくせい = Student
わたしはインドネシアじんです。
Watashi wa Indonesia-jin desu.
I am Indonesian.
インドネシア = Indonesia
じん = People
Note : your name country + じん ex: カナダ+じん=Canadian.
あなたはせんせいです。
Anata wa sensei desu.
You're a teacher.
あなた = You
せんせい = Teacher
これはほんです。
Kore wa hon desu.
This is a book.
これ = This
ほん = Book
やまだせんせいはにほんじんです。
Yamada-sensei wa nihon-jin desu.
Yamada-sensei/ Yamada teacher is Japanese.
にほん = Japan
じん = People
